We aim to confront design problems in innovative ways and promote extensive dialogue and careful interaction between clients, consultees, fellow consultants, local residents and contractors. We actively include both local and national authorities in all stages of the design and construction process. This search for inclusion creates an architecture of tangible places of character.

 

Many of our projects have been realised in sensitive historic settings and this has engendered a way of thinking that is rooted in understanding context in its broadest sense – we use this as a starting point for the creative process for all our projects. It is through our understanding of context that we can ensure that the decisions that are made throughout each project remain relevant to the brief. For example, housing projects designed with the home as the primary focus; uncompromisingly functional retail schemes to ensure viablity over the long term; cultural buildings which illuminate their context; masterplans with an absolute sense of place from the outset.
