Nissen Richards Studio is a double RIBA National Award-winning architects’ practice and exhibition design studio, founded in 2010 by Directors Pippa Nissen and Jim Richards. In 2023, the practice was part of the team shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize for its work on The Courtauld, with the project going on to win the People's Poll Award. The practice has also led or been part of the team for three RIBA regional awards in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The multidisciplinary practice works across masterplanning, architecture, exhibition design, interpretation, graphic design, theatre, story-telling, film and animation. Having a broad range of skills and expertise gives us the flexibility to work across varied projects, from small-scale exhibitions to large-scale residential, commercial and cultural buildings.
In the housing sector, we have worked across a wide range of interesting typologies, from the 167-apartment Sterling Gardens scheme in Berkshire to the ultra - eco Hartdene Barns development, a stunning collection of nine new homes, set within forty acres of land within an ANOB.
Practice Director Jim Richards is also a Conservation Architect and well-versed in handling complex listed and heritage refurbishment projects, such as the redevelopment of Grange Hall in London, converting a former school building for residential use.
